How to Show Internet Speed Meter on Taskbar in Windows.
In this post, we will help you monitor your internet speed with the help of NetSpeedMonitor.
Netspeedmonitor is a lightweight tool that keeps track of your current download and upload bandwidth within the taskbar on your Windows PC. You can also see detailed daily and monthly Traffic Statistics.
Let’s get started.
INTERNET SPEED METER FOR PC:-
Step 1: The first step download the tool. Open the link and click the Download Now option. You will get two download options: x86 and x64. The first one is for 32-bit Windows systems and the second one is for 64-bit. Click on the desired option and save the file on your computer.
Download button is given below.
>Tip:To find your Windows system type, double click "This PC" folder on your computer or laptop and right-click anywhere. Select Properties and check under System type.
The program was chiefly made to perform on Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. That doesn’t indicate it won’t focus on Windows 8 and 10. For that, you must run the installer at Compatibility mode. Don’t worry. We have mentioned the steps in detail.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the file. If you are currently running Windows version below Windows 8, installation should start normally. Anything above it will throw an error that the working Process isn’t Supported. Don’t worry. It is the right time to tweak certain things.
Step 3: Right-click on the setup file and go to Properties.
Step 4: Under Properties, Then Click the Compatibility tab. Here, check the box next to ’Run the program in compatibility mode for.’ The dropdown should show ’Previous version of Windows.’ Hit Ok to save the changes.
Step 5: Now double click the Installation file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions during the installation process.
Step 6: Once installed, you will not see the internet speed directly on your taskbar. You are going to need to enable the program first.
For that, right-click anywhere on your taskbar and hit the Toolbars option. Here select NetSpeedMonitor.
After that, you will see the upload and download speed on the taskbar.
NETSPEEDMONITOR NOT WORKING:-
Now, since this tool is not meant to work with Windows 8 and Windows 10 devices, for some users the meter is stuck at zero. On my Windows 8.1 device, it was stuck at zero for me, as shown in the picture below. for in case we have a solution for that too.
Step 1: Right-click on the NetSpeedMonitor reading (which is stuck at zero) and select “Configuration”.
Step 2-:In the NetSpeedMonitor window that opens, change the "Network interface" to a different one and click Ok. Hopefully, the meter should be working now. If you don’t know your machine’s WiFi adapter just choose one and apply and repeat the process until it starts working.
>Tip:By the way, you can find your machine’s WiFi adapter by opening “Device Manager” and expanding the “Network adapters” menu.
Now, it should start tracking your current download and upload internet speed you can see in the picture below.
NETSPEEDMONITOR TIPS AND TRICKS:-
Use the following tips to make the best use of the NETSPEEDMONITOR.
1. Change Speed Unit
To change the speed metric, right click on the NETSPEEDMONITOR on the taskbar and click on "Configuration". Under "Bitrate" click on the drop-down menu and choose the speed unit. By default, the tool shows speed in kilobits/second (Kbit/s), which might look a bit weird for normal usage. To make it to kilobytes/second (KB/s) or Megabits/second (Mbit/s) or the metric that you like.
2. View Data Usage
The NETSPEEDMONITOR tool not only shows the current download and upload internet speed but you can also use as a track your data usage. For that, right-click the NetSpeedMonitor meter on the taskbar and click on Data Traffic.
3. Change Double Click Action.
To change it, go to Configuration and choose the appropriate option for Double Click. You can customize it and use it for an action of your choice. I have set it to open data traffic window.
4. Customize Tool Font.
You can customize the font style and size. For that, go to Configuration > Layout. Here, change the font.
Step 5. Further, you can also customize the initials shown for upload and download speed in Layout. Like for me as you can see in the picture below.
6. Export Database.
Since the tool records the everyday data usage, you can export it's database too. So, go to Configuration > Database > Export Wizard.
